Don't know where to start? Try at least one more eco-friendly thing than you're doing already.

Support people you already know and trust, ask for referrals, look in your local yellowpages for co-ops, fair trade shops, immigrant businesses, antique stores, second-hand stores, art galleries and crafts fairs. When in doubt, choose businesses that are local, run by women and/or people of color.

Inspiration & Hope:

Ode Magazine
Ode is a print and online publication about positive news, about the people and ideas that are changing our world for the better. Ode is published ten times a year in both English and Dutch, with a worldwide circulation of more than 100,000. Over the past 12 years, Ode has helped make the 'alternative' media space more mainstream. Odemagazine.com's mix of print and online journalism with user-generated content and social networking makes it unique on the Web.

Yes! A Journal of Positive Futures
Published by the Positive Futures Network, Yes! is an award-winning quarterly magazine invites the reader to be part of a global community of changemakers. Compassionate Rebels

The Compassionate Rebel is a collection of stories and interviews with diverse men and women who have been energized by anger and motivated by love. They are ordinary people like you and me and they are changing the world—from their own backyards and neighborhoods to the far reaches of foreign lands. Their riveting stories are profound examples of the power of the average person to conquer adversity and injustice.

Natural Capitalism
In their book, Natural Capitalism, three top strategists show how leading-edge companies are practicing "a new type of industrialism" that is more efficient and profitable while saving the environment and creating jobs. Paul Hawken and Amory and Hunter Lovins call their approach natural capitalism because it's based on the principle that business can be good for the environment and for humanity.
